I knew wanted to make my first post back on this blog about hip hop's rising female star Azealia Banks, but it happens to be perfect timing because Azealia will be gracing Spin magazine's September/October issue.
Azealia Banks is Harlem born and raised, and her first EP was just released in May titled '1991' after the year she was born. Yes, making Azealia only 21 years old and already changing the game up. The video for her single '212' cleverly titled for the area code of Manhattan has been circulating on the internet for a couple of months now and her unique sound has gotten me quite excited to hear what else will come from her. Her music is an interesting mix of equal parts hip hop, dance, and art. Plus it doesn't hurt that she looks like a mermaid...
